Heard you're new in town
Want someone to show you 'round
Well no-one knows this place just quite like me
Well I don't hang with the crowd
Where I go we're dressing down
I'll take you where the music plays for free
So don't rely on people you meet
'Cause no-one is safe in these streets
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a good time
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a real good time
So what so you think so far
Is it all you're hoping for
Does it live up to your every dream
Or do we disappoint
Well you made the choice
When you wake up can you hear the scream
So don't rely on people you meet
'Cause no-one is safe in these streets
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine

'Cause I know how it feels to be alone
When strangers only make you feel the cold
You never ever felt so far from home
You never felt so far from home
I'm gonna take you out tonight

“For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can’t readily accept the God formula, the big answers don’t remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions & discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, & our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds & live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.” — Charles Bukowski
It's my first day off from work since I started this job in June. I'm not ill, but all of London's transport system has ground to a halt because of the snow!
"It might also be useful to write your thoughts and feelings down in a journal. According to studies conducted by American psychologist James W. Pennebaker, journaling - also known as "expressive writing" - for at least 15 minutes a day, about your innermost thoughts and feelings, can help release "blocked emotions" and make you feel "significantly better, physically and mentally". In fact, retelling a problem or experience in words, rather than simply thinking about it in your head, can help "bring about a change in perspective."
To make the most of your expressive writing session, Pennebaker suggests asking yourself three questions:
1. What happened?
2. How did I feel about that?
3. Why did I feel that way?
When writing down the answers, don't worry about grammar, spelling complete sentences or repetition. As Pennebaker says, "What counts is that you delve into your deepest feelings".
Hadouken! is such a guilty pleasure at the moment.

The Smiths on a bus with a load of kids on a day trip out. Watch as Morrissey laughs at a plant in the botanical gardens!
There are some really strange Smiths videos out there.

Not entirely sure why Simian Mobile Disco are ripping off Chris Cunningham & Aphex Twin:

I have two 'interviews', though one is tomorrow and I have to do a task with some small children and a mystery task, which is definitely a bit daunting, don't know what to make of that. The other one is Tuesday, it could be a pain to get to, but it's an interview & I'm more than prepared to travel. I'm definitely having a moment of 'you-wait-ages-for-a-bus-and-then-two-co me-along-at-once'.
Now means volunteering at an after-school club until the holidays, then I get paid for it. The children are very cute and very sweet. The staff are okay, but nothing of the Fun Language instant togetherness. I guess it's different situations now.
This is all very tiring.

Bernard: It's all waffle! Nobody is prepared to admit that wine doesn't have a taste.
Manny: Of course you can't taste anything, you smoke eighty bajillion cigarettes a day. What's that you're eating?
Bernard: It's some sort of delicious biscuit.

I have a song of the week always, but whilst browsing Myspace, I came across Katie Jane Garside's sister's (Maple Bee) side project, Huski. I found Undatow, which I can only describe sounds like Kylie Minogue's Confide In Me, but done infinitely better. It really appeals to my ambient/electroclash side!

I'm not a massive fan of James Sutton, the artwork for 'The Butcher & The Butterfly' wasn't as good as 'Taxidermy', but I think the Oriental-cityscape he's created in this video is just brilliant & suits the song perfectly.

Another sideproject for Miss Garside! http://www.myspace.com/katiejanegarside rubythroat Though call me stupid, but I'm sure I should know the name Chris Whittingham, but I can't think who the hell it is. 'House of Thieves' is quiet, which I'm not used to at the moment, but her voice is so fragile again, she does do quiet songs in such a delicate way.

I have succumbed & ordered Emilie Autumn's Opheliac. Delicious.
I should be doing my online TEFL course, but Emilie Autumn's Myspace page is just proving too distracting. Can't stop listening to Let The Record Show. I'm really hoping I'll still be around to obtain the album somehow when it comes out......

This song at the moment genuinely creeps me out, I can appreciate why Thom Yorke was angry, no one deserves to die like that, especially when you're just telling the truth.

You know, even though I have very little money at the moment & I should be saving, I'm still buying music.
Oh well, I've been listening to Shut Me Up for ages, so I guess the next logical progression was You'll Rebel To Anything. (It somewhat pleases me that I can still find bands like Mindless Self Indulgence tickling my morbid humour no end.)

"For me", Matt says, "Muse is about getting the hopes, dreams, desires, frustrations out of your system that you wouldn't normally be able to do. It's about showing people that there are things inside buried that should be exposed, and having no shame about them. We can communicate no matter the environment."

I think that's quite a good quote.
